Consumers spent $3.2 billion within social apps during the first half of 2021, a 50% year-over-year increase, and the trend is projected to top $6.78 billion by year’s end and reach $17.7 billion by 2025, according to App Annie research. The “Evolution of Social Apps” report attributes livestreaming, the creator economy and the pandemic as key drivers to the projected 740 billion hours of social media app usage this year.
