Social media platforms allow people to exercise their right to freedom of speech, even with celebrities famously buying Instagram followers. You can say almost anything, as long as it is not hate speech or misleading information. Do those prohibited acts, and the platform may kick you out.
This quality of social media platforms makes them great places for activists. It gives them a megaphone that loudens their voices. That’s a weapon the minority groups can use to fight against their abusers.
But members of the minority groups are not the only ones who enjoy this particular benefit of using social media platforms. Other people who suffered abuse may have things they want to say. But, they may be too afraid to say it out verbally, or they simply can’t. They can use social media to let these words out. It does not matter if you are an ordinary person or a celebrity; you can use social media like this regardless of that.
For instance, Britney Spears has been using the platform to fight her battles. Though, lately, she seems to be getting carried away.
Britney Spears and Conservatorship
In 2008, police arrived at Britney Spears’ house and noted that she was under the influence of an identified substance. This ultimately led to the conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears, and attorney Andrew Wallet.
What is a conservatorship? It is a situation where the court appoints a responsible entity to care for an adult who can’t care for themselves. That gives the conservator complete control over the conservatee’s assets.
The conservatorship lasted many years and was just a fun fact about the popular female artist. That was until 2019 when revelations about its true nature came out.
Britney Spears announced an indefinite hiatus on January 4, 2019, after her father suffered a near-fatal colon rupture. That also canceled her Las Vegas residency. She then entered a psychiatric facility amidst stress from her father’s illness in March of that year.
April was the month when involved parties stirred the pot. The creators of “Britney’s Gram,” a fan podcast, discovered something. Tess Barker and Barbara Gray considered Spears’ Instagram as a small window through where they get a rare glimpse of the Pop star’s unfiltered life. And they were intrigued by Britney Spears’ Instagram and public life going dark. So, they started hypothesizing. Then, a phone call from an anonymous person told them, “You are on to something.”
They released the voicemail message on the episode of the podcast that aired on April 16, 2019. It was from someone who claimed to be a former Spear’s legal team member.
The source claimed that Spear’s father canceled her residency because she refused to take her medication. Furthermore, they claimed Jamie had been holding Britney in the facility against her will since January 2019. That contradicts the initial reports that said she entered the facility in April. Considering that Britney Spears went MIA for a long time, it’s very likely that this is what really happened. And that’s because she violated a no-driving rule.
Most importantly, the source said that the conservatorship was supposed to end in 2009.
On SoundCloud, the podcast episode has been played more than 85,000 times. Ultimately, that led to the rise of the #FreeBritney movement. This movement received support from fans and artists alike. Cher, Paris Hilton, and Miley Cyrus were among the celebrities that supported it. The nonprofit organization American Civil Liberties Union also showed its support. Also, it led to the evaluation of Britny Spears’ conservatorship.
Jamie Spears called the people behind the #FreeBritney movement conspiracy theorists and the movement itself a joke. But further developments on the case revealed more truth. Before Britney spoke to the court on June 22, 2021, the New York Times obtained confidential court documents. Apparently, Britney Spears had pushed for years to end her conservatorship.
The next day, Britney Spears spoke to the court, and she called the conservatorship abusive. It told the world she was happy and okay, but she says she was actually angry and traumatized.
Britney’s fight for freedom lasted so long. Finally, in November last year, her conservatorship ended. That pleased both Britney Spears and the people who love her.
Threatening to Sue Tri Star
Britney Spears is now free from conservatorship. But her fight is still not over. On an Instagram post, she threatened to sue Tri Star. Also, she made allegations against former business managers Lou Taylor and Robin Greenhill.
Britney Spears wrote that she had lunch with the two managers. They told her to look at her huge black and white framed picture hanging on the Tri Star office wall.
The Popstar said the two – alongside Kate Beckinsdale – made her feel special. Then, “the same b*****s killed me a week later,” Spears wrote in the caption. They sent her away to the treatment facility.
Britney Spears went on to say that her father worshiped the two. She claimed that Jamie would have done anything they asked of him.
Britney said in the Instagram post that she thinks they were trying to kill her. And up to this day, she still strongly believes that’s what they were trying to do.
Spears concluded by saying that nobody else would have lived through everything those people did to her. She remembers all of it, and she will sue Tri Star. Spears also warned the company that she would “be here to warn them every day of her precious life.”
Tri Star denied the accusations. Its lawyer, Charles Harder, told Billboard that Britney Spears’ claims are “claims are entirely false as well as highly offensive, damaging and unacceptable.”
Britney Spears called out her sister, Jamie Lynn, in another Instagram post. Britney accused her of lying to make her look bad. She said Jamie Lynn was so believable that it’s scary. The “Piece of Me” singer warns that as Lynn’s older sister, she will put Lynn in her place.
Britney has now deleted both Instagram posts.
How many other Instagram Posts has Britney Spears deleted from her Instagram Followers?
There are many websites and tools that track Instagram followers, but none exist that track every user’s Instagram post history. This is because, for the most part, Instagram is the only platform that has full access to all the private and public Instagram posts, and they are worth their weight in gold. This is certainly true if you ask the rest of the team and investors of Facebook that own it, at least!
We’ve heard of rumored tools that are used to catalog and even clone all the Instagram posts from a variety of famous users, but the corporate lawyers have found, sued, and crushed all of these websites. This is because they are clearly very concerned over the eyeballs and traffic these types of sites take away from the platform, costing them millions of dollars of advertising revenue loss. You can’t blame them! At the same time, these sites also pose various legal risks due to stealing the data that is technically owned or operated by Instagram. Needless to say, we’d love to know if anyone has a list of all the Instagram posts Britney Spears has deleted over her many years on the platform. That being said, now that she’s deleted her entire account, we guess the answer is all of them!
Why Did Britney Spears Delete Her Entire Instagram Account in 2022?
Shortly after the described drama scenario, Instagram followers logged into their accounts and found that the entire profile had gone missing. Yes, it finally happened – she deleted her entire account! She publicly said she chose to delete it because of the very real impact of growing social pressures mounting on her during this difficult legal battle. This is probably the right move to make not only for her legal case but also for her own personal well-being. She isn’t the celebrity she once was and has retired in a certain sense.
To many celebrities, being on social media is just a part of the job. However, since Britney has made her millions, she has brilliantly chosen to finally let go of the strands of history that she must leave behind if she wants to continue growing as a person. In fact, websites just like this one would literally never even nothing writing an article about her, so in a sense, she has done more for her own marketing and name recognition by deleting her Instagram than anything she’s has done in the past decade!
