Elgato has entered the portable audio market with the Wave Go, a wireless microphone designed specifically for mobile content creators. The device weighs just seven grams and measures roughly the size of an AirPod, allowing it to remain nearly invisible when clipped to clothing. This compact form factor targets vloggers and social media producers who need high-quality audio without bulky equipment.
Hardware and Connectivity
The Wave Go uses a condenser capsule to capture audio, which Elgato describes as broadcast-quality. The hardware includes a single button on the transmitter that powers the device, mutes the audio, or double-presses to launch a phone camera app. It attaches to garments using a magnetic clip and plate system.
Connection to mobile devices is handled by a dedicated USB-C receiver. This receiver connects to the microphone via a 2.4GHz wireless signal rather than Bluetooth, resulting in latency of 24 milliseconds or less. The system supports iPhones, Android devices, and iPads. Users can also connect the receiver to a desktop computer’s USB-C port for use with Elgato’s Wave Link 3.0 software.
Battery Life and Accessories
While the microphone itself offers approximately eight hours of recording time per charge, Elgato includes a Smart Handle accessory to extend usability. This handle slots into the top of the Wave Go transmitter and provides five additional full charges. This brings the total available recording time to 48 hours. The handle also features its own power and mute buttons with LED indicators for status.

The system includes a carrying case to store the microphone, receiver, and Smart Handle. The case does not contain an integrated battery, so the Smart Handle serves as the primary charging solution for on-the-go use. A quick charge of 10 minutes provides roughly one hour of recording time.
Elgato has also released a companion mobile app for the Wave Go. This application allows users to monitor live audio levels, enable noise reduction, toggle automatic leveling, and check battery status. The company is selling a second microphone transmitter for $29.99 for users who need to record two voices simultaneously.
The Elgato Wave Go is available today for $99.99. The price includes the microphone transmitter, the USB-C receiver, the Smart Handle, and the carrying case. The device competes directly with other compact wireless microphones like the DJI Mic Mini in the growing market for mobile creator tools.
