JetBlue Airways has officially opened bookings for its new domestic first-class product, BlueFirst, with a scheduled debut on December 8. The airline announced the launch on Thursday, marking its first major expansion of premium onboard service since introducing Mint business class on transcontinental routes more than ten years ago.
BlueFirst Launch Routes and Schedule
The inaugural BlueFirst flight will operate as JetBlue Flight 1169 from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Service between New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and FLL will follow within a few days. These initial routes were selected based on customer demand, with the Boston-Fort Lauderdale corridor representing a connection between two of the carrier’s key focus cities.
Passengers should note that BlueFirst availability is tied to aircraft retrofits. The cabin will not be available on every flight on these routes immediately. For example, the initial schedule shows BlueFirst on only one of the six daily nonstop flights between Boston and Fort Lauderdale. The airline plans to roll out the cabin across its network in stages as planes are retrofitted and returned to service.
Seat Configuration and Amenities
BlueFirst seats are arranged in three or four rows of 2-2, depending on the aircraft type. Each seat features a 13.3-inch seatback screen with Bluetooth connectivity, five inches of recline, and up to seven additional inches of legroom compared to main cabin seats. Passengers also receive priority boarding and dedicated overhead bin space.

Dining service on flights longer than 899 miles includes premium meals and drinks. JetBlue previously described the menu as “bento-inspired boxes” containing items like sweet and savory crepes or sesame noodles. The airline is not installing ovens on these aircraft, so most meals will be served cold. BlueFirst passengers do not have access to BlueHouse lounges at Boston or New York JFK unless they hold specific credit cards or one-time passes.
Mosaic Upgrades and Future Expansion
JetBlue confirmed that Mosaic elite frequent flyers will be eligible for space-available upgrades to BlueFirst. Upgrades will clear in order of Mosaic tier, similar to major U.S. carriers. The airline also announced that “Move to Mint” certificates, previously available to Mosaic 3 and 4 members, can now be used for BlueFirst at variable redemption rates. Certain fare classes, likely including Base fares, are excluded from upgrade eligibility.
The carrier aims to have a majority of its fleet equipped with BlueFirst seats by the end of 2027, with the retrofit program concluding by 2028. This aggressive rollout aligns with industry trends toward premium revenue generation. Tickets for the December 8 launch are now available for purchase.
