The debate will be broadcast live on ABC News from the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The event is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. EDT. This timing is crucial as it falls exactly eight weeks before the general election, making it a key moment for both candidates to make their case to the American public.

    How to Watch the Debate

You can watch the debate in several ways:

    • Television: Tune in to ABC News for live coverage.
    • Streaming: The debate will also be available for streaming on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu. Additionally, you can stream it on the ABC app and connected devices.
    • Online Coverage: ABC News Digital and 538 will provide live blogging of the debate, including real-time updates, fact-checking, and analysis.

    Debate Format and Rules

The debate will be a 90-minute event with two commercial breaks. Here’s what you need to know about the format:

    • Moderators: David Muir from “World News Tonight” and Linsey Davis from ABC News Live will moderate the debate.
    • Rules: Each candidate will have two minutes to respond to questions and two minutes for rebuttals, with an additional minute for follow-ups. The microphones will be muted when it is not the candidate’s turn to speak.
    • No Audience: There will be no live audience, and candidates will stand behind lecterns throughout the debate. Props and prewritten notes are not allowed on stage.
    • Opening and Closing Statements: There will be no opening statements. Each candidate will have a two-minute closing statement.

    • The Economy: Trump has promised lower taxes and more jobs, while Harris has focused on reducing inflation and the cost of living.
    • Crime: Harris, with her background as a prosecutor, and Trump, with his record on law enforcement, will likely clash on criminal justice issues.
    • Border Policy and Abortion: Both candidates are expected to address their positions on these significant issues.

Will There Be Anymore Future Presidential Debates ?

As of now, there are no confirmed plans for a second presidential debate between Harris and Trump, although Trump has proposed a debate on September 25, 2024. The Harris campaign has agreed to participate in another presidential debate before the election.

    Vice Presidential Debate

In addition to the presidential debate, there will be a vice-presidential debate between Ohio Senator JD Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on October 1, 2024, moderated by CBS News.
