Daytona Platforms announced on Friday that it has raised a $60 million Series B round at a $1 billion valuation. The round was led by FirstMark Growth, which also led the company’s $24 million Series A in February. With this latest investment, the New York-based startup has now raised a total of $91 million.

    High-Profile Angel Investors Join Round

Alongside the institutional lead, Daytona attracted a significant group of angel investors for this funding cycle. The company listed several prominent technology leaders among its backers. These include Patrick Collison of Stripe, Tobi Lütke of Shopify, Aravind Srinivas of Perplexity, Eric Yuan of Zoom, Olivier Pomel of Datadog, Adam D’Angelo of Quora, and Brendan Foody of Mercor. D’Angelo also serves on the board of OpenAI.

Institutional venture arms also participated in the round. Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next, and Okta Ventures were named as participants in the investment. The influx of capital comes as the startup seeks to scale its operations in a rapidly evolving sector.

    Infrastructure Built for Agent Workloads

Daytona is three years old and focuses on building a cloud specifically for long-running agents. The company argues that these AI entities require different infrastructure than traditional software services. Ivan Burazin, the founder of Daytona, explained in a blog post that agents do not function like the long-lived services that current cloud platforms were designed to support.

According to Burazin, agents spin up thousands of short, stateful jobs that were not planned in advance. He stated that the company’s cloud is designed to handle this unpredictable workload. The platform provides agents with access to sandboxed versions of Linux, Windows, and macOS, as well as GPUs. Burazin described the service as giving every agent its own computer on a single platform.

The startup’s approach addresses the specific technical needs of AI agents, which operate differently from standard web applications. By providing isolated environments with varied operating systems and computing power, Daytona aims to support the complex tasks these agents perform.
