To mark the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus has confirmed she’s developing a special tribute project set to launch in 2026. In a recent Sirius XM interview, Cyrus teased a heartfelt celebration of the Disney‑era show that propelled her career into pop stardom.
“Something Really, Really Special” For Hannah Montana
In early July 2025, Cyrus reflected on the nostalgia and impact of Hannah Montana, stating: “It really was the beginning of all of this.” She has confirmed plans to “design something really, really special” for the upcoming milestone.
While she has not confirmed specific formats, the speculation is already rife. Fans suggest possibilities ranging from a tribute concert, re-released tracks, a documentary, to limited-edition merchandise releases. A full cast reunion appears unlikely, especially given former costar Emily Osment’s reluctance to revisit her role.
Legacy to Nostalgia
Hannah Montana premiered on Disney Channel in March 2006 and quickly became a global cultural phenomenon. Cyrus, then 13, played Miley Stewart, a teenage pop star leading a secret double life. The series cemented her status as a teen icon and launched her music career, including 2008’s Best of Both Worlds Tour, a concert film, and a long legacy of popularity.
Cyrus’s former resistance to the persona gave way to acceptance by 2024, when she was inducted as a Disney Legend, acknowledging Hannah Montana’s role in her artistic evolution. She remarked: “I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana because she made Miley in so many ways.” That moment was followed by her decision to revisit her Disney past in a more intentional and celebratory light .
What Fans Are Hoping For
According to press reports and fan commentary:
-
A tribute concert featuring remastered Hannah Montana hits like “The Best of Both Worlds,” or even new performances, now possible after she regained live performance rights as a Disney Legend.
-
A retrospective documentary or streaming special, chronicling the series, the cultural impact, and Cyrus’s journey.
-
Merchandise drops—possibly nostalgic collectibles or limited-edition memorabilia designed for long-time fans.
-
No hints of a full reboot series or film, and Osment (the original co-star Lily) has reportedly declined involvement.
Despite growing excitement around a Hannah Montana tribute, Miley Cyrus recently reaffirmed she has no intention of returning to full-scale touring. Citing vocal health concerns—including a polyp and Reinke’s edema—and mental wellness priorities, she emphasized that large tours can jeopardize sobriety and emotional stability. Her last major tour was in 2014 (Bangerz Tour) and she continues to focus on wellness over live performance demands.
That suggests any live component of the Hannah Montana tribute will likely be highly curated or limited, rather than a global stadium tour.
Artists and insiders suggest details about the tribute will unfold closer to spring 2026:
-
Guidance from Sirius XM and fan communities suggests spring 2026 may mark anniversary markers or events reinforcing nostalgia.
-
Speculated formats include a one-off performance or streamed event, possibly with guest appearances, music revisitations, and behind‑the‑scenes reflections.
-
Re-recordings or remixes of Hannah classics are possible, with legal access now granted post‑Disney Legend status.
As Cyrus continues to distance herself from massive live tours, fans expect an equally intentional and contained celebration: emotional, curated, and reflective of both character legacy and Cyrus’s own growth.
Miley Cyrus is carefully curating a Hannah Montana tribute for the series’ 20th anniversary in spring 2026, emphasizing nostalgia without a return to touring. With fans still speculating about concerts, re-recordings, or documentaries, the former Disney star has confirmed her intent to honor the show that made her—and she promises it will be “really, really special.” As she continues prioritizing her well-being and mental health, fans await a meaningful celebration that draws from her past without repeating it.
