Apple has introduced the MacBook Neo, a new entry in its laptop lineup that stands out as the only personal computer currently available in a pink finish. The tech giant has named this specific rosy hue “Blush,” a shade that has drawn significant attention on social media platforms, particularly among student users.
While the color choice captures interest, the device itself is designed for casual tasks and note-taking rather than heavy creative work. The hardware lacks the processing power required for professional-level projects, positioning it as a budget-friendly option for everyday use.
Apple’s Shift Away from Vibrant Laptop Colors
The availability of the MacBook Neo in Blush marks a departure from Apple’s recent history with colorful laptops. The company previously offered Rose Gold across its iPhone, MacBook Air, and Apple Watch lines, but that option has been quietly retired. The MacBook Air in Rose Gold was discontinued in 2019, and the Apple Watch Series 11 was the last model to feature the color before the Series 12 arrived with more subdued options like Night Blue.
Today, Apple’s higher-end models stick to traditional palettes. The MacBook Pro is available only in Silver and Space Black. Even the MacBook Air, while offering a faint blue option, does not provide vibrant shades for its Pro models. This strategy contrasts with the company’s approach to smartphones, where the iPhone 16 and 17e feature distinct pink variants, and the latest iPad models come in bold pink and yellow.
Competitors Embrace Bold Hues
Other technology brands have moved more aggressively into colorful device design. Google’s Pixel lineup recently released the Pixel 11 in a striking hot pink shade called Hibiscus. Similarly, Motorola’s reimagined Razr foldable phone is available in Hot Pink, a design choice that pays homage to the original device’s aesthetic.
Apple’s own product range shows a clear divide between entry-level and professional devices. The base-level iPad with the A16 chip is available in a bold pink that rivals its vibrant yellow variant. The M4 iMac also offers several eye-grabbing colors, including pink. However, stepping up to the iPad Pro or MacBook Pro limits buyers to subtle, muted tones alongside standard grays and silvers.
Recent iPhone releases have shown small signs of color experimentation. The iPhone 17 Pro featured an uber-saturated orange, while the iPhone 18 Pro offers rich burgundy and glacier blue options. These limited color choices for Pro devices suggest that Apple is cautious about introducing vibrant shades to its most powerful hardware.
As rumors circulate about a potential redesign of the MacBook Pro range, questions remain about whether Apple will expand its color options for professional laptops. For now, the MacBook Neo in Blush remains the sole pink MacBook available to consumers.
