OpenAI has begun rolling out its latest model, GPT-6, to ChatGPT users, introducing a significant change to how the chatbot delivers information. The update brings an “Intelligent UI” feature that allows the system to embed interactive elements directly into its text responses. This includes diagrams, charts, forms, and tappable buttons that users can manipulate within the conversation window.
The company announced the launch in a blog post, stating that it trained the new model to determine when to generate these interactive visuals over standard text. OpenAI provided examples of the new capability, such as a diagram of a seven-speed bicycle with buttons that highlight specific mechanical parts when clicked. Another example shows the chatbot teaching Mahjong by generating visual tiles that users can scroll through and categorize.
Interactive Tools and Calculators
Beyond static images, the new interface allows ChatGPT to generate functional tools inline with its answers. Users can ask for a retirement savings calculator, a retro game, or a bill splitter, and the chatbot will create the tool directly in the chat. This shift moves the interface from a simple text-based exchange to a more dynamic, application-like experience.
OpenAI also noted improvements in the model’s underlying performance. The GPT-6 models offer faster web searches and provide partial answers while continuing to gather information. The company claims the new models show stronger resistance to attempts to bypass safety training protocols compared to previous versions.
GPT-6 Sol and Luna Models
The rollout distinguishes between two versions of the GPT-6 model based on user subscription levels. Higher-tier subscribers, including ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, gain access to the mid-range GPT-6 Sol model. This version is available globally starting today.
Users on the Go and free tiers will receive access to the GPT-6 Luna model. OpenAI describes Luna as a more efficient version of the model. Access for these lower-tier users is scheduled to begin on Thursday. The company previously announced the GPT-6 models last month, but this update marks their full integration into the standard ChatGPT interface.
