Apple has officially confirmed its third product event of the season, scheduled for October 28 in Los Angeles. The company has sent invitations to press and influencers for a gathering titled “Pro and Tell,” signaling a focus on professional-grade hardware updates.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of Apple’s recent smart home-focused showcase. The upcoming event is described as an all-day affair, suggesting a comprehensive look at the company’s latest technological developments across multiple product lines.
First Touchscreen Mac Expected
Industry analysts and reporters, including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, have reiterated previous reports that the centerpiece of this event will be the introduction of a touchscreen Mac. This would mark a significant departure from Apple’s traditional desktop and laptop interface, which has relied exclusively on mouse and keyboard input for decades.

Reports indicate that these new touchscreen laptops will feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets. They are expected to come in 14-inch and 16-inch formats. According to leaks, these new models will be significantly lighter than current Pro models and will utilize OLED displays for improved visual quality and energy efficiency.
The shift to touch input on the Mac platform has been a long-standing rumor within the tech industry. Apple’s success with touch interfaces on iPhones and iPads has led to speculation that the company would eventually bring this intuitive control method to its more powerful computing devices.
M6 Chips and OLED iPad Mini
Beyond the potential debut of a new form factor, Apple is also expected to refresh existing product lines with its latest silicon. The company is slated to introduce more devices powered by the M6 chip, which debuted in August with the latest Mac mini.
Specific models expected to receive the M6 upgrade include the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac. These updates will likely focus on performance improvements and efficiency gains rather than drastic design changes, building on the foundation laid by the recent Mac mini release.

In addition to Mac updates, the event is expected to feature an iPad mini with an OLED display. This would be the first time the compact tablet line has received this type of screen technology, aligning it more closely with the display standards found in higher-end iPad Pro models.
The combination of a new touchscreen Mac, widespread M6 adoption, and OLED displays across multiple devices suggests Apple is preparing a major push into professional and creative workflows. The October 28 event in Los Angeles will be the first opportunity for the public and press to see these devices in person.
