Accessory manufacturer BMX has introduced a new MagSafe battery pack tailored for Apple’s upcoming foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. The device, known as the BMX Duo 5000mAh Power Bank, is available for pre-order on Amazon for $79.99. This release comes just ahead of the iPhone Duo’s official launch scheduled for Friday.
Custom Fit for Foldable Design
The iPhone Duo introduces a form factor that differs significantly from standard slab-style smartphones. Because the foldable device is shorter when closed, many existing MagSafe accessories do not align correctly with the magnetic array. These generic chargers often hang awkwardly off the bottom edge or fail to attach securely.
BMX addressed this compatibility gap by designing the Duo power bank to match the exact folded footprint of the new phone. The 5,000mAh battery cell is shaped to sit flush against the cover panel of the iPhone Duo. This design ensures the accessory does not protrude past the edges of the device, maintaining a sleek profile when attached.
While optimized for the foldable model, the BMX Duo also snaps onto iPhone 12 through 18 series devices. It provides the same secure magnetic attachment and 15W wireless charging speeds that are standard for MagSafe-compatible iPhones.
Charging Speeds and Safety Features
In addition to wireless charging, the power bank includes a built-in USB-C cable. This wired connection supports charging speeds of up to 20W, offering a faster alternative for users who prefer a direct connection over wireless induction.
The device incorporates semi-solid-state battery cells. According to BMX, these cells use significantly less liquid electrolyte than conventional lithium-ion batteries. The company states that this reduction in liquid content helps lower the risk of battery fires, addressing a common safety concern with high-density portable power sources.
Users can monitor the charging status via a full-color display located on the back of the power bank. The screen shows the exact remaining battery percentage and the live charging wattage in real time. A built-in ring allows the power bank to rotate 360 degrees, enabling flexible positioning for different viewing angles or charging setups.
BMX is one of the first companies to release accessories specifically engineered for the iPhone Duo. As the launch date approaches, the market is expected to see a wider range of compatible peripherals entering the ecosystem.
