Apple released software update 27.2 on Tuesday, bringing a significantly upgraded version of its virtual assistant to a broader global audience. The update introduces Siri AI in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, marking a major expansion of the company’s artificial intelligence capabilities outside of English-speaking markets.
This new iteration of Siri represents a complete overhaul of the assistant’s underlying architecture. According to Apple, the system is designed to be more conversational and deeply integrated with user data. It draws on personal context to help locate information across messages, emails, and photo libraries without compromising privacy standards.

New Capabilities in iOS 27.2
The updated assistant utilizes onscreen awareness to interpret content currently displayed on a user’s device. This allows the system to answer questions or execute commands related to specific apps or web pages. It also incorporates broad world knowledge to provide real-time information on a wide variety of topics.
Systemwide app actions have been expanded to handle complex tasks. Users can now instruct the assistant to draft emails from scratch or edit and share collections of photos. These features rely on the Apple Intelligence framework, which processes data locally on the device to maintain security.

Future Language Rollout
Apple has outlined a schedule for further language support. Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese are scheduled to become available by the end of the year. This phased approach allows the company to refine the technology before expanding to additional regions.

The expansion to five new languages today affects millions of devices running the latest software. The update is available immediately for compatible hardware. Apple continues to position Siri AI as a central component of its ecosystem, aiming to make the assistant more useful for daily tasks across different cultures and languages.
