Apple and The King’s Trust have launched a new education initiative called the Apple x King’s Trust Creative Labs. The program aims to help young people build careers in the creative industries by providing them with technology, resources, and mentorship. This marks a significant expansion of the longstanding partnership between the two organizations.
A first cohort of up to 20 young people, aged 18 to 30, will participate in specialized workshops. These sessions are designed to teach industry-aligned skills using Apple technologies. The immersive educational experience began this week with workshops focused on the music industry. These sessions align with the recent opening of the Apple Music Hall at Battersea Power Station in London. Additional sessions and cohorts are scheduled to launch over the next year.

Apple Music Hall and Industry Workshops
The initial workshops take place at the newly opened Apple Music Hall in London. This venue serves as a hub for the first phase of the Creative Labs program. Participants will engage directly with Apple experts across various creative fields. The goal is to equip them with the confidence and expertise needed to realize their potential in the workforce.
Apple has a history of supporting educational programming for learners of all ages in the UK and globally. The company states that its offerings aim to help participants gain necessary skills and access resources to succeed in their careers. The new Creative Labs initiative builds on this foundation by connecting the next generation of creators directly with industry professionals.

50 Years of The King’s Trust
This year marks the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust. The organization was founded in 1976 by His Majesty The King, then the Prince of Wales. Over the last five decades, it has helped 1.3 million young people across the UK reach their potential. The Trust focuses on developing life skills, preparing individuals for employment, and supporting business launches.
Jonathan Townsend, the UK chief executive of The King’s Trust, highlighted the impact of the partnership. He noted that the collaboration has already opened valuable opportunities for thousands of young people. The Creative Labs program represents a new chapter in this work, aiming to help even more individuals develop creative digital skills. Townsend expressed pride in the initiative and anticipation for how participants will use their new talents.

Research indicates that at least $15 billion of social value can be attributed to the impact of The King’s Trust programs over the last 50 years. Many participants from the last five years have successfully moved into work, education, or training. The new initiative seeks to replicate this success on a broader scale within the creative sector.
Expanding STEAM and AI Literacy
Since 2019, Apple’s support has enabled The King’s Trust to expand STEAM programming to schools in every region across the UK. The Achieve program uses Apple’s coding education resources to help young people develop apps that address community needs. Additionally, the Trust’s 12-week Team program provides young adults with access to Apple technology and learning resources. These resources support efforts to earn a Personal Development and Employability qualification.

Apple is also working with The King’s Trust to develop resources that build AI literacy among educators and young people. The goal is to empower educators to thoughtfully integrate the latest technologies into their teaching practices. This effort aims to foster creativity and agency in the classroom. The partnership continues to evolve, focusing on equipping young people with the tools they need to thrive in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
