Samsung Electronics has officially entered the open-ear audio market with the launch of Galaxy Buds On. The new device marks the company’s first foray into clip-on earbuds, a form factor that prioritizes situational awareness and long-term comfort over the noise isolation typical of traditional in-ear models.
The Galaxy Buds On rests lightly on the outer ear rather than inserting into the ear canal. This design allows users to listen to music, take calls, and exercise while remaining aware of their surroundings. Samsung tested the fit during vigorous movement, noting that the earbuds remain securely in place without causing pressure or discomfort during extended wear.

AI Integration and Voice Control
A key differentiator for the Galaxy Buds On is its integration with artificial intelligence tools. The earbuds support voice commands that allow users to interact with services like Gemini Live without touching their smartphones. For example, runners can ask for route recommendations or distance details while warming up, keeping their hands free and their focus on the path ahead.
Basic media controls are also handled via voice. Users can skip tracks or adjust volume by speaking simple commands such as “Next song” or “Volume up.” Additionally, a Head Gestures feature enables hands-free call management. Nodding answers an incoming call, while shaking the head declines it. Simple head movements can also dismiss alarms or check message notifications.

Audio Technology and Workspace Features
Despite the open design, Samsung claims the Galaxy Buds On delivers rich sound through a component called TwinBoost, which enhances bass response compared to previous Galaxy Buds models. To address the common issue of sound leakage in open-ear devices, the earbuds utilize Audio Leakage Reduction 1 technology. This feature minimizes the amount of audio that escapes the earbuds, making them suitable for use in shared workspaces or quiet offices.

Call clarity in noisy environments is handled by Intelligent Clear Call. This system combines three microphones with a bone conduction-based Voice Pickup Unit Sensor and machine learning algorithms. The technology isolates the user’s voice from background noise, ensuring clear communication even in crowded areas like subway stations.
Productivity features include Quick Voice Memo. Users can start recording by pressing and holding the back of an earbud. The system then allows users to query their tasks using Bixby, hearing details aloud without needing to search through saved audio files.

The Galaxy Buds On is available now. Samsung has directed users to its Customer Support page for assistance and provided a media contact form for press inquiries.
