Samsung is accelerating the distribution of its latest software update for flagship devices in the United States. The company has begun rolling out One UI 9, which is built on top of Android 17, to several of its 2025 smartphone models. This move follows a similar launch in South Korea approximately one week prior.
Initially, the update appeared on a limited number of carrier-specific variants. It is now expanding to include both carrier-locked and unlocked versions of the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7. This expansion marks a significant step in the global release schedule for the software.
Firmware Versions and Download Sizes
Users with the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra can expect to see firmware versions ending in DZIF. Reports from online communities indicate that the package for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is approximately 3.9GB in size. For those upgrading directly from One UI 8.5, the Over-The-Air (OTA) update for the S25 Plus is roughly 3.8GB.
The foldable devices are receiving distinct build numbers. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is getting firmware F966USQUCCZIH, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is receiving F766USQUCCZIH. These specific identifiers help users verify they are receiving the correct stable release.
Carrier Availability and New Features
Availability varies by carrier and exact device model. The rollout for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been observed on AT&T networks. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 update has appeared on T-Mobile and Verizon devices. Samsung’s official update pages confirm that Android 17 builds are live for both foldable models and multiple variants of the S25 series.

The One UI 9 update introduces several functional changes. Users will find a more customizable Quick Panel and improved Now nudge suggestions. The update also adds My FanCam, new privacy and security alerts, and upgrades to Samsung Health. DeX functionality receives improvements as well.
Foldable users get specific enhancements. Galaxy Z Fold 7 owners receive additional multitasking controls. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 gains several improvements to its cover screen experience. These changes aim to optimize the software for the unique form factors of the devices.
The progression of this update in the US signals that Samsung is moving into the wider international phase of its One UI 9 release. Other markets are expected to follow as the staged rollout continues. Owners of these devices can check for the update by navigating to Settings, selecting Software update, and choosing Download and install.
