High-quality visuals of the upcoming Samsung W27 have surfaced online, offering a detailed look at the China-exclusive foldable smartphone ahead of its official release. The images, provided by well-known tech leaker Evan Blass, display the device in an Aura Blue colorway with significant gold accents on the exterior frame. This design marks a distinct departure from the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is scheduled for global release later this month.
Distinctive Gold Exterior Design
The leaked images highlight a premium aesthetic that sets the W27 apart from its global counterpart. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a more subdued look, the W27 incorporates extensive gold detailing on the chassis. This design choice aligns with previous iterations of the W series, which have historically targeted the luxury market in China with unique finishes and materials not found on standard flagship models.
Blass shared the images on the social media platform X, providing views from multiple angles. The visuals confirm the device’s form factor as a large foldable phone. The gold trim appears to wrap around the edges of the device, creating a sharp contrast with the blue back panel. This aesthetic differentiation suggests Samsung intends to position the W27 as a distinct luxury product rather than a simple regional variant of the Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Hardware Specifications and Launch Date
Despite the visual differences, the internal hardware of the Samsung W27 is expected to mirror the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Leaker Ice Universe recently suggested that the company will retain the same core components for the Chinese model. This includes an 8-inch inner display with a resolution of 2504 x 2256 pixels and a 6.5-inch cover screen with a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels.

Under the hood, the device will likely run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. The camera system is anticipated to feature a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens on the rear, paired with a 10MP selfie camera. Powering the device is expected to be a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W wired charging.
While the W26 introduced extra RAM and specific Galaxy AI features compared to the Z Fold 7, it remains unclear if the W27 will offer similar upgrades over the Z Fold 8 Ultra. The focus appears to be on the exterior design and exclusive availability rather than significant internal performance gains.
Samsung has already teased the device, confirming an October 29 launch date for the W27. The release will be limited to the Chinese market, maintaining the brand’s strategy of offering exclusive variants to specific regions. Consumers in China will be the first to access the device, with global availability unlikely.
