Nikita Buyanov, the director behind the popular tactical shooter Escape From Tarkov, has introduced his next major project. The new title, called Fragmentary Order, takes the extraction shooter formula into a futuristic setting. A 14-minute gameplay reveal showcases in-engine footage of the upcoming game.
Remote Clones in a Futuristic War
Set in the year 2251, the game imagines a Solar System where warfare has become an outsourced industry. Players do not control their own avatars directly. Instead, they command remotely operated clones known as RepEnts. These units are deployed into large combat zones to execute dangerous missions.
Death in Fragmentary Order carries a different weight than in traditional shooters. Losing a clone is treated as a business expense rather than a permanent failure. This mechanic allows for a different approach to risk and strategy. Players must still exercise caution, as the environments are hostile and unpredictable.

The game features large-scale maps with dynamic weather and changing environmental conditions. Players can utilize vehicles, drones, and advanced technological systems during combat. Squad-based play is a core component, with teams of up to four members required to coordinate closely to survive encounters.
Tactical Gameplay and Development Plans
The gameplay footage highlights mechanics familiar to fans of the genre. Looting, inventory management, and weapon customization remain central to the experience. Firefights appear intense and require careful planning. The primary difference lies in the setting, which swaps the gritty, realistic environments of Tarkov for a high-tech sci-fi backdrop.

Buyanov has outlined ambitious goals for the project. He stated that the team is building a world for players to live in for years, rather than a simple match-based game. The aim is to create a long-term engagement similar to the longevity seen in Escape From Tarkov.
Alongside the reveal, the developer announced Prime Batch, a paid closed testing program. This initiative allows dedicated players to participate in the game’s development cycle. The first closed alpha testing wave is scheduled for later this year under a nondisclosure agreement. A full release date has not yet been confirmed.
