My Chemical Romance has reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart with a reissue of their 2006 album The Black Parade. The 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition sold 78,000 equivalent album units across more than 20 formats, according to Billboard. This achievement marks the first number one album for the rock band in their nearly 25-year history.
My Chemical Romance Breaks Chart Record
The deluxe reissue was released on October 23 to celebrate the album’s two-decade milestone. Physical sales drove the album to the top spot, beating out Olivia Rodrigo’s new release, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love. The victory comes after midweek predictions showed the band leading by a margin of about 1,000 sales.
Rodrigo supported the band’s success on social media. She posted a clip from My Chemical Romance’s performance at New York’s Citi Field earlier this year. The pop star captioned the Instagram story with the band’s handle. She also met the group backstage during that same concert.
The Black Parade Legacy and Tour
Originally released in 2006, The Black Parade debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. The album expanded the emo band’s sound with a rock opera style influenced by Queen. It produced the top ten hit Welcome to the Black Parade. Over the last 20 years, the record has become a defining rock album of the 21st century.

The band is currently touring in support of the anniversary edition. The Long Live the Black Parade tour began in 2025. Recent stops include sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium and a performance at the band’s hometown stadium in New Jersey. The tour has faced minor legal issues with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading team but continues to draw large crowds.
The band also secured their first number one on the U.K. official album chart on Friday. This dual chart success reinforces their status as rock icons. The achievement highlights the enduring appeal of their work across generations.
