United Airlines has announced a four-route expansion for the summer of 2027, adding a new nonstop service to Bermuda and bolstering its hub at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Chicago-based carrier revealed the new routes this weekend, following a larger announcement last week regarding international service cuts and new connections to Canada.
New Nonstop Service to Bermuda
The expansion includes a new nonstop flight from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Bermuda. This addition gives United a second nonstop flight to the British overseas territory, which is located approximately 650 miles off the North Carolina coast. The carrier already operates service to Bermuda from its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

United will operate the Chicago-Bermuda route using a Boeing 737 family aircraft. The new service provides travelers with an additional option to reach the popular vacation destination from the Midwest without connecting through another hub.
San Francisco Hub Expansion
United is also strengthening its presence at San Francisco International Airport with three new or returning routes. These additions cover transcontinental service to New England and the South Carolina coast, as well as a flight to Oklahoma that the airline has not operated since the pandemic.

The carrier will resume service from San Francisco to Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford, Connecticut. United last operated this route in 2018. The airline will also launch a new nonstop flight from SFO to Charleston, South Carolina (CHS), offering Bay Area travelers a direct connection to the Lowcountry.
Additionally, United is bringing back its San Francisco to Oklahoma City (OKC) route. This service ended in April 2020 during the early stages of the pandemic. Unlike the other three routes in this expansion, which will be flown on Boeing 737 family aircraft, the SFO-OKC flight will be operated by an Embraer 175 regional jet.

Context for Network Changes
This four-route expansion comes shortly after United announced a series of new routes to Canada as part of a broader effort to strengthen ties with Air Canada. That earlier announcement included new service to Newfoundland via St. John’s, which will serve as the carrier’s easternmost service in Canada. The new 2027 routes cover a total of six cities, adding to United’s growing network for the upcoming summer season.
