Samsung has officially unveiled the W27, a high-end variant of its Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra designed exclusively for the Chinese market. The company teased the device earlier this week, and the official release confirms it is a re-skinned version of the flagship foldable with a focus on premium materials and exclusivity.
The W27 retains the core hardware of the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra but distinguishes itself with a more opulent exterior. The device features a gold-colored frame and camera island, with the frame sporting a textured finish. Buyers can choose between a dark red or dark blue rear cover. Despite the luxury aesthetic, the physical dimensions remain unchanged, with the phone measuring 8.9mm when folded and weighing 215 grams. It also carries the same IP48 water and dust resistance rating and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protection on the back.
Samsung W27 specs and storage options
Under the hood, the W27 is identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and includes a 5,000mAh battery. The display setup consists of an 8-inch folding OLED main screen and a 6.5-inch outer OLED cover screen.
The camera system is also shared with the standard model. It features a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 10MP camera on each display. The primary difference lies in the storage configurations. The W27 is only available in 16GB RAM paired with either 512GB or 1TB of storage. This skips the lower-tier 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB options found on the standard Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Price comparison with iPhone Duo
The most significant aspect of the W27 launch is its pricing. According to the source, the 16GB/512GB model is priced at 18,999 yuan, which converts to approximately $2,852. The top-tier 16GB/1TB variant costs 21,999 yuan, or about $3,303.
This pricing strategy places the W27 above the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which retails for $2,700 for the 1TB model in the United States. It also surpasses the cost of Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo in China. The 256GB iPhone Duo is expected to cost around $2,401, while the 512GB version is priced at roughly $2,702. This makes the Samsung W27 one of the most expensive consumer electronics devices available in the region.
For buyers willing to pay the premium, Samsung includes several accessories in the box. The package contains a Kevlar magnetic case, a 45W charger, and a USB-C cable. These items are often sold separately for the standard Z Fold models, adding some value to the luxury package.
