Samsung Electronics opened its “Design is an Act of Love” exhibition on October 15 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul. The event serves as a centerpiece of Seoul Design Week 2026, which runs through October 25 and stands as one of South Korea’s premier design gatherings.
Italian Artists and OLED Displays
The exhibition features 14 distinct artworks created by emerging artists from Italy. Samsung collaborated with POLI.design, an Italian design education institution, to curate these pieces. The artists drew inspiration from Samsung products to reflect the company’s design philosophy, which emphasizes understanding and caring for people.

Each artwork is presented on a Samsung OLED TV, specifically the S95H model. The displays are fitted with custom-designed frames that integrate the technology into the artistic presentation. This setup allows familiar consumer electronics to serve as canvases for creative expression.
The exhibition highlights how standard products, such as the Galaxy Z Fold8 smartphone and the Music Studio 5 device, have been reimagined through an artistic lens. The goal is to demonstrate the intersection of engineering and imagination.

Human-Centered Design Philosophy
Mauro Porcini, President and Chief Design Officer of Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division, defined the core theme of the event. He stated that design is fundamentally an act of love that involves deeply understanding and caring for people.

“We will pursue design that embraces individual diversity and brings warm emotional value to our lives,” Porcini said. This statement underscores Samsung’s commitment to human-centered design, a strategy that prioritizes user experience and emotional connection over pure technical specifications.
This exhibition follows Samsung’s participation in Design Miami Seoul 2026 in September. The company has used both events to share its vision of combining artistic creativity with technological innovation. The Seoul Design Week event continues this effort by showcasing how technology can support individual diversity and emotional value.

Samsung aims to push creative boundaries by merging artistic imagination with technology in new ways. The exhibition serves as a platform to demonstrate this approach to a global audience interested in design and consumer electronics.
