Xbox is rolling out an early preview of paid cloud gaming access for players who do not hold a Game Pass subscription. The initiative targets members of the Xbox Insider program, allowing them to purchase streaming time in advance of broader changes arriving in November.
Under the new preview structure, users can buy cloud gaming access in specific hour blocks. The pricing for these introductory launch prices is set at $4 for 10 hours, $8 for 25 hours, or $12 for 50 hours. These purchased blocks unlock an ad-free cloud gaming experience. This tier includes shorter wait times and high-quality streaming. The purchased playtime remains available until it is used.

Cloud playtime limits for subscribers
The preview comes as Xbox prepares to overhaul its gaming offerings under new leadership. Starting in November, Game Pass subscribers will face monthly time limits on cloud streaming. These limits are expected to range from five to 15 hours per month. Players who wish to stream beyond these caps will likely need to purchase additional time or access through the pay-per-play model.
Currently, members of the Xbox Insider program have been able to try ad-supported cloud streaming for free since the summer. This free tier serves as a baseline for users who do not wish to purchase time blocks. The paid blocks offer a distinct alternative by removing advertisements and prioritizing stream quality.

Insider program feedback
The Xbox Insider program allows players to test features before their official launch. Participants in this preview can provide feedback on the pay-per-play system. This feedback may influence the final implementation of the service when it becomes available to a wider audience next month.

It remains unclear if the introductory prices will change once the service fully launches. The current rates are described as introductory, suggesting potential adjustments. The final cost structure will be clearer after the November updates take effect for all Game Pass subscribers.
