Nintendo is marking the first annual Pikmin Day on Sunday, November 1, 2026, by unveiling new details about the upcoming Pikmin 4 game for the Switch 2. The announcement came during a special broadcast that also revealed updates for the mobile title Pikmin Bloom and introduced a new animated short series.
Switch 2 Voice Controls and Gameplay Modes
During the presentation, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto demonstrated how players will interact with Oatchi, the space dog companion in Pikmin 4. The game will utilize the Switch 2 console’s built-in microphone to allow players to issue voice commands directly to the character. This feature aims to add a layer of immersion to the strategy gameplay that defines the franchise.

Nintendo also introduced a new mode called Dandori Academy. This section is designed to test player skills through specific challenges. The company announced that limited tests for this mode will run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. These tests will include leaderboards where players can compare their statistics against others.
Hello! Pikmin Series and Mobile Updates
The broadcast also served as the debut for Hello! Pikmin, a new series of short films. Miyamoto showed the first installment of the series, which builds on the success of Close to You, an animation released last year. The schedule for the shorts includes a second episode premiering on Monday, November 2, with a third episode arriving later in November. Starting in December, the series will release one short per month.

Updates for Pikmin Bloom were also shared. The mobile game is receiving a new feature called Secret Caves. Players will be able to explore these caves and battle enemies to win treasure. This addition expands the exploration mechanics that have been central to the mobile title since its launch.

The celebration of Pikmin Day highlights Nintendo’s continued investment in the franchise. The combination of new hardware features for the Switch 2, mobile game expansions, and animated content suggests a broad strategy to engage fans across multiple platforms. The voice control feature in particular marks a shift in how players might interact with the game’s core mechanics.
