Blizzard Entertainment has released the final set of balance adjustments for World of Warcraft: Forever, the retro-style MMO launching this week. The studio stated that recent beta testing revealed a need for more flexibility in class design, leading to a significant overhaul of damage output across the entire game.
The primary change involves raising the damage potential for every class. Developers explained that strictly adhering to the original 2004 power budgets left insufficient room for new content. This constraint forced designers to remove iconic abilities to make space for new features, resulting in a less satisfying experience for many players.

Addressing Beta Feedback
In patch notes published on the official forums, the development team described the issue as a lack of “headroom.” They noted that every new element added to the game had to come at the expense of existing mechanics. This approach left some classic abilities feeling weak and limited future design possibilities.
To resolve this, Blizzard is increasing damage across all classes. To maintain game balance, the health of high-level creatures will also be raised. The developers stated that this additional flexibility allows them to tune the game to a level that feels better overall, distinguishing Forever from early expansions like The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.
The goal is not perfect numerical equality between classes, but rather to ensure every class feels valuable in group settings. The studio aims to create powerful, memorable moments for players who master their chosen specialization.

Controller Support and Launch Details
Alongside class adjustments, Blizzard has updated the official gamepad support for WoW Forever. The studio claims the controller implementation has now entered a complete functional state. Players can now access all major gameplay and core user interface experiences using a controller, a significant improvement over previous iterations.
Other changes include increased creature respawn rates in lower-level zones. This adjustment is designed to support the large player volumes Blizzard expects at launch. The studio also noted that balance changes will pause until the first raids open on December 9. At that time, the team will conduct a large tuning pass based on live game data, including player progression past the beta level cap of 30.

World of Warcraft: Forever reimagines the classic 2004 version of the game with modern updates and new content. The title is scheduled to launch on November 4, or November 5 depending on the time zone. Early beta indications suggest the game will see high demand upon release.
