Barnes & Noble and TCL have officially partnered to release a co-branded version of the Tab A1 NXTPAPER tablet. The new device is priced at $249.99, matching the launch cost of the original model released by TCL in September. While the original standalone version is currently listed for $229.98 on the manufacturer’s website, the Barnes & Noble variant includes specific software additions tailored for book lovers.
Hardware Specifications and Display
The tablet retains the hardware configuration of its predecessor. It features an 11-inch display with an anti-glare finish, which is designed to reduce reflections during reading sessions. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G100 processor and includes 6GB of RAM for multitasking. Storage capacity is set at 128GB, with support for expansion up to 2TB via a microSD card slot.
Powering the device is an 8000mAh battery. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0 and an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance. The tablet runs on Android 16 and is equipped with quad stereo speakers. Camera hardware consists of an 8MP rear lens and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calls.
Software and Availability
The primary distinction between the co-branded model and the standard TCL Tab A1 NXTPAPER is the software experience. This version comes with the Barnes & Noble Nook application preinstalled. The app provides access to a library of audiobooks, comics, graphic novels, magazines, newspapers, and books. This integration aims to position the tablet as a dedicated reading device for the bookstore’s ecosystem.
Customers can currently pre-order the device through the Barnes & Noble website. The tablet is scheduled for general release on November 19. This launch follows the initial September release of the original TCL model in the United States, expanding the tablet’s availability through a major retail partner.
