Samsung is already preparing its next major software update, One UI 9.5, while the current One UI 9 rollout continues. Early access to an unreleased beta build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra has provided the first look at upcoming changes to core applications. According to reports from SamMobile, the update will bring significant visual and functional adjustments to Samsung Calendar and Samsung Health.
Calendar Interface Overhaul
The most visible change in the upcoming update involves the visual design of the Samsung Calendar app. In the current One UI 9 version, dates are displayed within individual rectangular backgrounds that create a grid-like appearance. The beta build for One UI 9.5 removes these distinct cells. Dates now float directly against a black background, which reduces visual clutter and creates a more open layout.
Navigation elements have also been repositioned. The search button has moved from the top right corner to the bottom right, placing it adjacent to the “Add event” button. The event creation button itself has been simplified. It no longer displays the currently selected date, showing only the text “Add event” to save space.
A new “Key events” section has been introduced in the search interface. This area displays important scheduled items as pill-shaped shortcuts. This section appears above the standard calendar and color menus. The app sidebar has also been reorganized. Options for Sync now, Recycle bin, and Settings have been moved above the account list to improve accessibility.
New Journaling Feature in Health
Beyond visual tweaks, Samsung Health is receiving a new functional addition called Mindful note. This feature serves as an in-app journaling tool designed to help users reflect on their thoughts and feelings. The app description states that it allows users to “capture a moment, a feeling, or whatever comes to mind.”
Users can start with a blank page or use specific prompts to guide their writing. The available categories include About yourself, Relationships, Work and goals, and What if…? To support consistent usage, the feature includes an option to set reminders. This allows users to establish a daily habit of recording their thoughts.
These changes are currently visible only in prerelease software. Samsung has not officially detailed the full scope of One UI 9.5. Features spotted in early beta builds may be altered or removed before the final public release. The update is expected to be based on Android 17, following the current One UI 9 iteration.
